Frequently Asked Questions

What Clients Often Ask

Choosing who to trust with your retirement is a big decision, and it helps to know what sets one advisor apart from the next. Here are some of the questions we hear most from people deciding whether we're the right fit.

Do I need a certain amount of money saved before it makes sense to work with you?

There isn't a magic number that qualifies someone for good planning. What matters more is whether you're facing decisions where a second perspective would help, such as when to retire, how to turn savings into income, or how to keep more of what you've earned. If those are the questions on your mind, it's worth a conversation regardless of where your accounts stand today.

Will I actually be able to reach my advisor when something comes up?

You will. The advisor who builds your plan is the same one who answers when you call between reviews, and we make a point of staying reachable rather than routing you through layers of staff. Retirement brings questions that don't wait for an annual meeting, and we'd rather hear from you when they come up than months later.

What makes you different from the advisor I already have, or the big national firms?

Much of the industry organizes itself around managing investments. We organize around the full set of decisions retirement asks of you, from Social Security timing and tax planning to protecting your income and passing on what you've built. That often means sitting in on a meeting with your attorney or getting on the phone with your CPA, so the people advising you are working from the same page rather than in separate corners.

How do I know your recommendations are built around me and not a product you're trying to sell?

Plenty of people arrive having saved well and handled the basics themselves, and the value we add is in the connections between decisions rather than any single one. Choices about when to claim Social Security, how to sequence withdrawals, and how to manage taxes across several years all affect one another, and coordinating them is where a well-built plan earns its keep. Many clients tell us we raised considerations they had never thought to weigh.

What happens to my plan as things change over the years?

A retirement plan is a living document, not a binder that sits on a shelf. Markets shift, tax laws change, and life brings events no one schedules for, so we revisit your plan on a regular basis and adjust as your circumstances move. Some of the relationships here span more than 25 years, built through exactly that kind of ongoing attention.
